Principles of Research Design
Course Description
This course introduces students to the process of designing and conducting research in political science and international relations. Students learn how to develop research questions, construct theoretical frameworks, formulate hypotheses, and design effective research strategies. The course also emphasizes the critical reading of academic literature, focusing on identifying methodological design and evaluating the validity of research claims. Students gain a foundational understanding of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, preparing them to develop and carry out their own research projects. Prerequisite: Politics or International Relations major and any 100-level course in the department, or consent of the instructor.
